Grandpa Brickey
This is my Mother's father Glen. I love this photo of him. It shows a little of the character he was. He filled a room with his personality when he entered it. He was a terrible tease and loved to work up us grand kids whenever possible. When we got word Grandpa was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer, cousin Leslie and I in SD. loaded up and drove to AZ. to visit him, which would be the last time we would see him here. During our visit I was looking at a photo album that was his from his youth. Looking through it I noticed several photos of farm animals, a close-up of a pigs snout, chickens, cows so I asked him, "Grandpa, what are all these farm animal photos about?" I showed him and he chuckled his mischievous laugh and told me the story. One of his brother's was getting married and he told his sister in law to be that he would take photos for them at their wedding. BUT instead he went around the farm and took pictures of all the farm animals that were now in the album. He pretend to take real photos at the wedding and what they got were the pig snouts, chickens and cows! He also told me his sister in law never liked him. As you can imagine! But we all loved him. Our many family trips to their farm in Nevada hold tons of memories for our family. My horse back rides through the desert of Nevada with Grandpa were an adventure. We galloped and went down the steepest river banks. The river banks would not have been my idea and he had to yell a few times to get me to ride down them. But I loved our rides and I cherish the memories of our time together. We all love him and miss him terribly. And because of our hope in the Lord we look forward to meeting him again in heaven! That hat he's wearing, I asked my Grandmother for after his passing. It sits on my bedroom dresser. His memory and the love I will always have for him has a place in my heart.
*Each Friday I plan to "feature" a photo on my blog. I'll pick from my numerous photos one that jumps out to me for a blog. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend! (p.s. I added more photos to our Disney album)
